What a Frosty Morning!

Now….we realise that it is Winter, but having had a few mild weeks this cold snap took us by surprise. The Spinney Nursery Children, however, have really enjoyed donning hats, gloves & scarves and getting out in the frosty morning. They were fascinated by the frost that lay on the outdoor equipment and made lots of swirly shapes in it with their gloved fingers!

What a fantastic time we had at The Spinney Bell Meadow Christmas Concert! The Children were brilliant and played their parts in the nativity very well, whilst singing their little hearts out! Many thanks to all the staff who helped make it a real success as well as the parents who came to watch. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas! :)

Christmas Cheer at the Spinney Hoole

At this time of year the nurseries are busy practising for the children’s Christmas Concert, however this year the parenst thought it would be great fun to do their own concert and brought in their instruments and singing voices to do a medley of Christmas Carols for the children and families of The Spinney Day Nursery. It was a great evening with both a great turnout and many mince pies consumed. We would like to say a big thank you to the families who came and indeed those who brought their instruments to play.

Diwali Day
The children with their candle holders and pictures that they had made

The children at Holiday Club had a great day during half term where one of our lovely parents, Pippa Lace, came in to do a multicultural day about the Diwali Festival. The children dressed in traditional clothes, made candle holders, learnt about the gods and even sampled some Indian food. A great day and a big thank you to Pippa!

Charity Kilimanjaro Trek a real success!

Our Marketing Director, Rhiannon, would like to say a huge thank you to you all for your support with her fundraising for the Charity Kilimanjaro Trek in aid of Save the Family. She raised over £4000 for Save the Family with money still coming in! Here she is with The Spinney Bear at Uhuru Peak on Kilimanjaro, Africa’s Highest peak at just under 20,000ft! Yes that poor bear was dragged all the way up the mountain, but what a great place to say he has been! :)

Making the most of the October Sunshine!

We thought we would make the most of the sunshine today and get out into the Spinney Growing Garden to harvest the last of the vegetables that were planted. The children helped begin to prepare the garden for the winter and collected the Autumn leaves that had fallen over the weekend. They had great fun scrunching and crunching in the leaves!

A visit to ‘Story Time’ at Chester Library

The children at The Spinney Hoole had a fantastic time at Chester Library’s ‘Story Time’ today where they listened to stories and sang songs with an Alien/Monster theme including the favourite book ‘Aliens Love Underpants’!

Mini Spinney abroad…..Kilimanjaro to be precise!

While we are talking Spinney Scarecrows here is another member of the Spinney Day Nursery Scarecrow family, Mini Spinney, Mr Spinney’s Nephew. Smaller than most but not in spirit, Mini Spinney spent his Summer Holidays climbing Kilimanjaro with our Marketing Director in aid of the charity ‘Save the Family’. Here he is at Barranco Camp before he climbed the Barranco Wall on his 7 day trek to the summit! We are happy to say that he did summit Kilimanjaro and that the coat he is wearing has indeed been washed since!
